LOTS of ABC contacts......
Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 09:44:19 PM PDT
You know what do do with these...
so get up tomorrow ready to do it.
I realize this is not a diary...but so much has been already said, that I have nothing to add...
except that tonight made it so abundantly clear ( at least to me,)that we are up against a fully corporate-sponsered candidate.
We have a fight on our hands, because they are terrified of Barack Obama, and what he might do to the culture of corruption.
UPDATE: Billary Redux now has these in a recc'ed diary...don't rec this..go there..
Hypocrisy
Fri Mar 14, 2008 at 08:23:04 PM PDT
Alegre has a diary up just now, discussing how terrible comments at DKos
made about her candidate, Hillary Clinton, have caused her so much
distess that she is striking the site.
I call hypocisy.
And I am angry.
Please follow me below if you wish, and I will explain.
Time to raise our voices
Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 01:08:17 PM PDT
Yesterday, I called Howard Dean.
I posted this, after I called:
Call Howard Dean. Right now.
I called, and was put through to his office.
It is important to be courteous, but firm. I told them that I hoped that there was someone who could put a stop to the ugliness..that I expected it from Republicans but not from Democrats.
And that it was getting to the point where it would be hard for me to vote for Hillary...for anything.
If you feel that your voice should be heard on this...
Here is the number. Please call.
Howard Dean 202-863-8000
But we can do MORE. TODAY.

(updated)Dallas Police concerned Secret Service halts security screening for Obama
Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 01:18:34 PM PDT
UPDATED:The story is on the UPI newswire, nowhttp://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Top_News/2008/02/21/report_security_relaxed_at_obama_speech/8649/
( I received an answer from a front pager that I highly respect, to not delete.)
I find this terrifying...
Evidently, the Secret Service in Dallas gave an order to stop screening for weapons, an hour before Obama took the stage. This was supposedly in order to "expedite" moving the crowd.

Under Cover of California's Suffering....
Wed Oct 24, 2007 at 09:56:56 PM PDT
It is all about the fires.
None of us can quite believe what we are seeing...huge firestorms raging over California, destroying homes, lives, businesses, pets, wildlife...and entire ecological systems.
Watching it is horrific...I cannot imagine the grief and pain of the people affected.
An almost unbeliveable and unprecedented tragedy...
It does turn out that Governor Schwarzenegger "vetoed four bills that would have increased staffing and resources", and "other unfulfilled recommendations made to Schwarzenegger...including replacement of helicoptors, increasing staffing..and adding nightime airdrops"
But there are some other things going on right now , too..even as the fires rage...going on under cover of a huge, destructive, tragic plume of smoke...
Oaxaca Burnout? But it matters! They are us.....
Wed Nov 29, 2006 at 11:12:52 AM PDT
Are you suffering Oaxaca burnout???
But how can you, without knowing really what is is all about?
In a diary by davidseth, yesterday, he posted this quote from the Washington Post,
""In the past few months, a large federal police force has tried, and failed, to corral the armed bandits and hordes of protesters occupying the city of Oaxaca. A handful of bombs apparently placed by groups sympathetic to the Oaxaca protesters have exploded across Mexico City, including one that shredded part of the country's electoral tribunal building."
Armed bandits???? It is what they would have you believe..the ruling elites of Mexico and of the United States.
But this is a genuine movement of the people...it is though the Governor of one of OUR states ( say, for example, Louisana) had decide to brutally repress the people of New Orleans, while stealing from them...and while not providing the most basic human services...and also slowing destroying all that they were most proud of.
PLEASE SIGN? A petition to end massacre of dolphins
Tue Nov 21, 2006 at 11:31:44 AM PDT
( 13 comments as of 2:42...Thank you, all who have cared enough to read and sign....but I see that I can write a diary...but I cannot make most of you out there ...care)
I well remember my excitement as a child, when a neighbor, a young scientist, first told me about the studies into dolphin intelligence. She was thrilled too, and kind enough to share what she was learning with a kid who loved and was fascinated by animals.
Since then, more studies have confirmed and enhanced those findings.
Dolphins and porpoises are among the MOST intelligent mammals on the planet. They are at least as sophisticated as the great apes, they recognise themselves in a mirror, and because they learn from one another , any mass slaughter not only kills many animals, but the body of knowledge that each one holds.
There is more after the fold, including a petition to end the unnecessary slaughter of a most beautiful sentient species...do PLEASE consider signing it.
BREAKING! UPDATED!President of Mexico sending federal forces to Oaxaca, 3 dead yesterday
Sat Oct 28, 2006 at 09:34:04 AM PDT
President Vicent Fox of Mexico has announced that he is sending federal forces to the city of Oaxaca ,which has been in open rebellion for months, to "guarantee the security of the populace, and to restore peace and order".
This comes after a previous proclamation on Thursday that there would be a resolution decided upon by the end of this weekend.
In between those two announcements, the strikers in Oaxaca began to build more barricades. As this was being undertaken, "neighbors" (who were armed with high-powered rifles) attacked many of the barricaded sites. ( It is important to know that arms are NOT legal in Mexico, and are very hard to get. The strikers are armed with pipes and clubs...in other words, the attackers are either police, miltary, or para-military).
There were at least 21 separate attacks, with shell casings everywhere.
Oaxaca.
Eleven people were wounded, and three are missing.
OAXACA ALERT UPDATE: The teachers ask for our help!
Tue Oct 03, 2006 at 09:53:52 PM PDT
There is a new commnunique from the teachers on strike in Oaxaca, Mexico. They have held out for months now, to try and put and end to the unjust, corrupt, and repressive rule of the PRI Governor of Oaxaca, Ulises Ruiz Ortiz.
They ask for our help. They are afraid. President Fox of Mexico has said that he will not rule out violence against the strikers of Oaxaca.
Most of us cannot physically go to Oaxaca, to stand with the teachers. But we can send the messages of support ( don't worry if you don't speak Spanish...someone there will understand). And we can watch carefully what happens, so that the world knows exactly what happens there.
PLEASE keep calling - to Amnesty International,to Democracy NOW ,to the Mexican Consulate in your state, to your congressman and senator.
This is part of what was was posted tonight, on www.Narconews.com

OAXACA RED ALERT!!!! (UPDATED!)
Sun Oct 01, 2006 at 10:24:01 AM PDT
Right now, at this moment, the strikers of Oaxaca are
building huge barricades in the streets.
There have been miltary helicoptors overheard since last
night, and word is that there are troops all around the
city.
The American press would have us believe that what is
happening in Oaxaca is the work of anarchists and terrorists..that this is some kind of anti-gringo movement. This is NOT the truth. It is not about us..
What is happening is a legitmate popular uprising caused by the abuses of a corrupt and repressive Goveror ( who was elected by a very narrow margin, that most believe was fradulent, due to vote buying)
Please be alert to this. It is important that people understand what is really going on, and that we stay informed.
I am getting emails and calls out of Oaxaca, asking people to call embassies, Amnesty International, and Amy Goodman.I am doing all that, but I also know that an appeal to the Kossacks is equally important.
I will report more, when I know more.
October 5th Walkout
Fri Sep 29, 2006 at 09:41:25 PM PDT
A while back, I looked into obtaining the domain name, www.civildisobedience.com. It was not available, nor was it being used by anyone promoting it.
It can be a powerful tool. We all know how Ghandi used it against the British in India, and we of course used it here against the war in Vietnam.
I think the time has come to use it again, in a big way. And a good start would be the planned October 5th walkout, organised by the site www.theworldcantwait.net. Walk off your job, walk out of your school..or just walk out of your house...and go some place public. With signs!
Blogging is the best thing that has happened to the political arena in my lifetime...but there is still power in large public manifestations . ( Lopez Obrador did not succeed..but he sure got some attention!)
